And this website is my application for the student exchange program to Sacramento.

My name is Leonard, I am 14 years old and live in Wiedenbrück together with my parents and two younger brothers. Erik and Tom are twins and 11 years old. We also have a calm, family-friendly dog, who is 16 years old already. We are a funny and adventurous family who love to play games or watch movies together.

English has always been very important to me and I use it every day. I even watch films and series in English, which helps me to better understand the spoken word.I also took part in two weeklong English camps where all activities were led by native speakers from places such as New York or Los AngelesI enjoy having conversations, learning new vocabulary and improving my pronunciation. The exchange would be a perfect opportunity to take the next step and to use my skills in everyday life.

That´s me
Taking responsibility has always been a part of me. Whether at school, in sports, or in my spare time, I enjoy being actively involved in different ways. These experiences have helped me to grow, support others and face new challenges with confidence.

I am very excited about the exchange with California and I really want to be part of it. For me, it is a unique chance to experience everyday life in the US, make new friends and see the world from a different perspective. What makes this exchange so special to me is that it takes place in Sacramento. As the capital of California, Sacramento combines the spirit of American history with the energy of a modern, diverse city. I am fascinated by the idea of living and studying in such an inspiring environment. I believe that being in Sacramento will allow me not only to get to know American culture, but also to understand the political, social and cultural heart of California.I am very interested in STEM-subjects and sports and I look forward to discover how important they are in American schools. I believe this will help me to connect with other students and to share common activities. The exchange is also a great opportunity to improve my English every day and to become more confident in speaking. I know that living in another family and school system will be enriching for me.When my cousin returned from his exchange year in California, I could see how much he had learned and grown. Since then, I have wanted to take this step myself.I am a motivated, excellent student, reliable and ready to make the most out of this experience – and for me, Sacramento is the perfect place to do so.

My main goal is to strengthen my English by using it naturally in everyday situations. I want to move beyond classroom learning and become more fluent and confident.I am also curious about how American schools work and how daily life for students there differs from ours in Germany. Experiencing another system will give me new perspectives on learning and working together.Another important aim for me is to develop personally. Living in a new culture will teach me independence, adaptability and openness - qualities that will help me in many areas of life.Building friendships with students in Sacramento is something I especially look forward to. I hope to learn from their traditions while also sharing my own background in a positive way.Looking ahead, I think about studying abroad. This exchange is a valuable step in preparing for that future and in gaining skills I could never learn at home.

When my exchange partner comes to Germany, I will make him feel welcome from the very first day. I will introduce my exchange partner to my family and friends and include him fully in my daily life.I plan to take my exchange partner with me to activities and games, to show how I spend my free time and to share my interest in sports. Experiencing my everyday routine will help us to understand each other better and to feel like a team.It is also important to me to show our school and our town, so that my exchange partner gets to know German culture and traditions. At the same time, I am curious to hear about life in Sacramento and to compare our experiences. My goal as a host is to create an open, respectful and enjoyable atmosphere.

Since two years I have been giving private tutoring in English, Math and German to younger students. I enjoy helping them to improve step by step. At home, I also support my younger brothers with daily school tasks. Through these experiences I have learned patience, responsibility and how to encourage others.

I was class representative for two school years and even lower school representative for one year. In these roles I learned how to listen to others, represent their opinions and find fair solutions. Being part of student leadership showed me how important communication, responsibility and teamwork are in school life.

Playing Soccer
I have played soccer for many years, primarily as a center back. In this role, I have learned to stay focused, lead from the back and communicate clearly with my teammates. Soccer has also taught me the values of discipline, teamwork and consistency.

Coaching Youth
For more than one year I have been training a youth soccer team (ages 8 - 10) at SC Wiedenbrück. As a licensed youth coach, I take pride in sharing my knowledge of the game, fostering teamwork and supporting the players in their development.

Refereeing
I am a licensed soccer referee and regularly lead matches. This role requires a high level of fairness, quick and confident decision-making and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

Other Sports
Besides soccer, I also enjoy many other sports. I like running and I also go to the gym regularly to stay fit. In addition, I play American football for fun and follow the sport.

Thank you very much for taking time to read my application-website.
I would be very happy to be selected for the next round of the application.
